The annual Display of the Mace Ceremony was held at the Police College on September 22, in memory of the late Sir Shiu-kin Tang. Sir Shiu-kin’s son, Mr Richard Tang, and daughter, Ms Yvonne Tang, were present at the ceremony.

During the ceremony, Commissioner Tang Ping-keung shared his memory of the late Sir Shiu-kin Tang and paid tribute to his family for their enormous support for the Force. Two silver maces were placed on a stack of traditional drums and a minute of silence followed. Then the Police Band played a selection of music to conclude the ceremony.

Generously donated by Sir Shiu-kin’s family as an emblem of his close relationship with the Force, the two silver maces are used by the Police Band at all major official functions.
