Ah Chun, who is currently attached to the Police Community Relations Office of Tsuen Wan District (PCRO TWDIST), has established ties with the Force as early as 2013. Upon graduation, he happened to join the Police Public Relations Branch as a Junior Police Call (JPC) Activity Assistant and was responsible for organising a variety of activities for young people. At that time, most of Ah Chun’s colleagues were regular police officers who were dedicated to nurturing young people and instilling positive values in them. This experience enabled Ah Chun to gain an insight into police work.

Operation SOLARPEAK in 2014 changed Ah Chun’s life. He witnessed his colleagues working day and night to handle the illegal “Occupy Movement”. Despite facing a difficult situation, his colleagues remained dedicated to their duties. Their perseverance motivated Ah Chun to join the Force to safeguard Hong Kong. He eventually managed to become a police officer.

During Operation TIDERIDER, being a member of the Police Tactical Unit, Ah Chun was always on the front line of confrontations facing the attacks and abuse from rioters. However, Ah Chun and his colleagues stayed committed to protecting Hong Kong and stood fast at their posts.

What saddened Ah Chun the most was seeing so many young people being arrested during the operation. Having once been a core member of the JPC, Ah Chun is determined to contribute to the healthy development of the youth. With his experience as an Activity Assistant, Ah Chun has been transferred to PCRO TWDIST and taken up the post of Junior Police Call Activity Coordinator to instil the right values in the younger generation.

After Operation TIDERIDER, strengthening police-community relations becomes a very challenging task. Building on his experience and talent, Ah Chun explored ways to deepen the public’s understanding of police work. During the summer holiday, Ah Chun assisted the JPC of TWDIST in organising 15 online activities and disseminated police-related posts to the public through various social media platforms to enable the public to know more about police work.

TWDIST Commander has recently presented “The Best Police Constable” award to Ah Chun in recognition of his contribution to strengthening the police-community relations. Ah Chun said, “There is always room for improvement in terms of police-community relations. I will do my utmost to serve the Force and society.”
