Tsuen Wan District
Amid the epidemic, Tsuen Wan District (TWDIST) officers joined local community leaders to distribute anti-epidemic items such as surgical masks and hand sanitisers to the elderly and grassroot citizens in the district. Apart from discharging day-to-day duties, officers also paid visits to multiple locations within the district to hand out leaflets with health information to members of the public, foreign domestic helpers as well as staff of employment agencies and shops so as to step up publicity and education on anti-epidemic measures.
Furthermore, officers proactively carried out inspections at gathering hot spots in the district, taking enforcement action against those who had contravened the prohibition on group gatherings and the mask-wearing requirement. Between August 1 and 23, a total of 146 fixed penalty tickets were issued to those in breach of the limit on group gatherings, plus 23 fixed penalty tickets issued to those who had failed to wear a mask. At the same time, TWDIST also promoted an array of online activities through various online platforms to encourage the engagement of members of Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call as well as the public, with a view to urging them to stay at home and fight the disease together.
Wan Chai District
On August 9, Commander of Wan Chai District Chan Sze-tat, officers from the Police Community Relations Office, Uniform Branch of Wan Chai Division and Liaison Bureau, together with representatives of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and Labour Department and Consul of Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong Mr Agung Wahyudi, handed out anti-epidemic items in popular gathering places of foreign domestic helpers (FDHs) in Wan Chai. Meanwhile, anti-epidemic leaflets in different languages were distributed and mobile broadcast was also made in different languages to call upon FDHs to comply with the regulations on the prohibition on group gatherings and the mask-wearing requirement in public places. A similar event was held in Wan Chai on August 16 to remind the FDHs to maintain social distancing to fight the disease together.
Sham Shui Po District
In mid-August, the Ethnic Minorities Engagement Officer of the Police Community Relations Office of Sham Shui Po District (PCRO SSPODIST), officers of Patrol Sub-units, Special Constables and the representatives of the Labour Department visited employment agencies for foreign domestic helpers (FDHs) and gathering places of non-ethnic Chinese community in the district to distribute leaflets in multiple languages to brief employers and FDHs on anti-epidemic measures and regulations, with the aim of bringing the epidemic under control and minimising the risk of the spread of the virus in the community.
