Due to the increase of fatal traffic accidents involving Public Light Buses (PLB) in Kowloon East in July 2020, officers of Road Safety Team of Traffic Kowloon East (T KE) approached PLB drivers in various PLB stations in KE Region and showed them videos of concluded fatal traffic accidents to enhance their alertness. Officers also reminded the PLB drivers to check the traffic condition, pay attention to pedestrians and rearview mirror more often when driving. Meanwhile, officers explained to the drivers that the family members of the deceased and the drivers may also suffer from the consequences of the accidents, including tremendous psychological and financial stress, and legal liability, such as facing the charge of “Dangerous Driving Causing Death” and civil compensation.
In addition, officers of Road Safety Team of T KE also visited various public housing estates and wet markets in KE Region to distribute road safety leaflets to elderly residents to remind them to heed safety when crossing the road.
