Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Chow Yat-ming appointed Superintendent (SP) Chik Ming-yam to succeed retiring SP Li Kam-piu as the Officer Commanding (OC) of the Force Escort Group (FEG). Mr Chow presented a letter of appointment to Mr Chik and a letter of appreciation to Mr Li at the Police Headquarters on June 24.
Mr Chik, who has taken over the post of SP of the Enforcement and Control Division in Traffic New Territories South again, is a veteran of the FEG. He previously served the FEG between 2000 and 2019 as Team Leader, Second-in-command as well as the OC before retiring.
Mr Chik had strived to enhance the escort efficiency and tactics over the years and successfully built up the professional image of the FEG. With Mr Chik’s ample operational and traffic experience, Mr Chow is confident that he is the most ideal candidate for the post of OC FEG.
Mr Chow thanked Mr Li for his hard work as OC FEG. During his tenure, Mr Li had further promoted the professional image of the FEG, and fostered positive public recognition via numerous escort duties and public engagement events such as the Hong Kong Police Force 175th Anniversary Open Days. Mr Chow also took the opportunity to wish Mr Li a happy retirement after his 30 years of dedicated service in the Force.
Mr Li praised FEG members for their devotion to performing the secondary duty and encouraged them to keep up their good work under the leadership of the new OC.
The FEG, one of the Force’s secondary duty cadres, comprises over 60 officers from the five regional traffic formations. It provides traffic facilitation to all special vehicle movements, including VIP motorcades, high risk prisoner escorts and secure movement of high value cargos. In 2019, FEG members contributed over 2 310 man-days totalling 75 mobilisations on such activities.
