Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) organised a seminar regarding preservation of online evidence for around 80 members of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) on June 17. The seminar aimed to introduce the methods of online evidence preservation, the techniques of information gathering on the Internet, as well as to share the experience of testifying in courts to the PCPD members.
During the seminar, Chief Superintendent of CSTCB Dr Law Yuet-Wing stressed the importance of the collaboration between the PCPD and the Force in preventing and addressing the doxxing activities against Hong Kong citizens, in particular those involving police officers, Special Constables, and their family members. The Deputy Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data Mr Tony Lam also stated that the PCPD attaches great importance to protecting the personal data of the public. He hoped that the PCPD members, through this opportunity, could gain the techniques of online intelligence gathering and the experience of presenting digital evidence in courts from the Force, with a view to better safeguarding personal data privacy in Hong Kong.
PCPD members actively participated in the seminar and exchanged experiences with the CSTCB members. In the closing remarks, the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data Mr Stephen Wong appreciated the contribution of the Force and considered the seminar as a valuable opportunity for the experience exchange between the PCPD and the Force.
