On April 23, Tsuen Wan District (TWDIST) and the Psychological Services Group (PSG) conducted an online workshop for pregnant officers working from home amid the outbreak of COVID-19.
Being the first time for the PSG to provide an outreach service through online video conferencing, Police Clinical Psychologist Ms Yew Wing-see conducted the workshop, which looked at how to maintain good physical and mental well-being during pregnancy. She also led the participants through a deep breathing relaxation exercise to relieve stress and anxiety.
Assistant District Commander (Operations) Au Yeung Sze-wan and Assistant District Commander (Crime) Wong Hau-suen of TWDIST were invited to share their personal experience and tips during pregnancy, such as dietary intake as well as relationship management with family members and colleagues.
TWDIST Commander Kerry Carew remarked that notwithstanding social distancing requirements, TWDIST had implemented innovative ways to maintain its service quality which included the use of information technology as an outreach tool. He added that as a caring organisation, TWDIST would continue to devote resources to support staff who need to work from home and he lauded the commitment demonstrated by working mothers in TWDIST in coping with their career and family needs
