On March 12, Regional Commander of New Territories South (RC NTS) Patrick Laidler presented compliments to over 30 Uniform Branch and Crime officers of Lantau District (LTDIST) in recognition of their outstanding performance in detecting a number of cases including robbery, burglary, criminal damage and possession of offensive weapons. Some of the cases were connected with Operation TIDERIDER.

In late 2019, officers from District Anti-triad Section and Task Force Sub-unit of LTDIST jointly detected a case of criminal damage that took place at a shopping mall in Tung Chung, during which four persons vandalised a shop and a restaurant. After conducting an in-depth investigation, the officers apprehended the suspects. In January 2020, officers of Lantau South Division displayed considerable courage and decisiveness when rescuing two trapped persons from an overturned and burning car.

Mr Laidler greatly appreciated the officers’ contributions and dedication to duty. He encouraged them to remain steadfast in maintaining law and order and enhancing public confidence across LTDIST. LTDIST Commander Tam Nga-ching commended the officers’ efforts and was delighted to see their hard work being recognised.
