In the light of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) Regulation (Cap. 599G) has been implemented since March 29, 2020, prohibiting group gatherings with more than four people in public places so as to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. To remind the public to comply with the new regulation, reduce social contact and refrain from group gathering, Acting Deputy Commander of Central District (CDIST) Liauw Ka-kei led ten odd police officers, six Special Constables and 16 Filipino CDIST Fight Crime Ambassadors to distribute leaflets in Chinese, English, Thai, Tagalog and Bahasa Indonesia to foreign domestic helpers at the Statue Square, Chater Road and Connaught Road Central footbridge in Central to publicise the new regulation on April 5.

The Filipino CDIST Fight Crime Ambassadors reminded their fellow countrymen in Tagalog to comply with the requirements under the regulation and urge them to reduce social contact and stay at home as far as possible to help curb the spread of the disease. Many Filipino domestic helpers thanked the arrangements made by CDIST, saying that through the explanation given by the Filipino CDIST Fight Crime Ambassadors in their mother tongue, they gained a better understanding of the details of the regulation and learnt to take appropriate measures to protect themselves against infection. CDIST will continue to join hands with different stakeholders in the community to fight the disease.
