With a view to understanding the effects brought to schools and youngsters by issues arising from anti-extradition law amendment bill and the outbreak of COVID-19, officers of Police Community Relations Office of Sham Shui Po District (PCRO SSPODIST) invited SSPODIST auxiliary officers who are teachers at secondary, primary and special schools to a meeting to exchange views. They discussed topics including peer pressure, news and information processing, thinking modes of students, as well as ways adopted by schools to handle political disagreement, class boycotts, violation of discipline and doxxing.
PCRO SSPODIST and School Liaison Officers also met with the chairperson and vice-chairperson of Sham Shui Po District School Liaison Committee to discuss school management in response to social issues as well as the relevant security work, and to coordinate the communication and cooperation modes after class suspension. The meeting enabled SSPODIST officers to enhance communication with educational stakeholders.
In view of the class suspension due to the outbreak of COVID-19, School Liaison Officers made use of school intranets and online learning platforms to disseminate latest crime prevention messages to more than 52 schools in the district, in particular deception cases relating to online shopping of surgical masks and romance scams to parents and students.
SSPODIST will continue to adopt a multi-agency approach to engage the community and promote positive values among youngsters.
