Recruitment Division has been adopting a proactive approach to attract high calibre candidates to join the Force.

Project ACHIEVE

In order to encourage students to join the Force after graduation and enhance their preparedness on the recruitment selection process, the Recruitment Division has implemented Project ACHIEVE with the support from ten post-secondary institutions. Over 350 students have joined the project for 2019/20. They will have opportunities to visit different police units and participate in physical fitness and interview skill workshops. One hundred and eight officers graduated from the participating institutions were appointed as Police Ambassadors on October 16. Apart from sharing their knowledge and work experience, the ambassadors will offer advice to project members so that the students can better prepare for the recruitment selection process of the Force.

The Inauguration Ceremony of Project ACHIEVE 2019/20 was held at the Hong Kong Police College on October 24. Over 300 participants including the representatives of institutions, project members and Police Ambassadors attended the event. Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Chan Joon-sun officiated at the ceremony and presented souvenirs to the representatives of institutions. The event provided a valuable opportunity for all parties to interact and share their views.

The first activity of the new project year, "Police Touch", was held at the Hong Kong Police College on November 9. The event enabled project members to gain a better understanding of the basic training in the Police College and strengthen ties with Police Ambassadors.

Police Mentorship Programme

The summer job attachment scheme for mentees of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) 2019/20 came to a successful conclusion on November 8, with around 100 mentors, mentees and project officers attending a prize presentation ceremony of the scheme at the Police Headquarters.

This year, a total of 225 mentees were attached to various police formations to participate in 124 projects, including thematic research, event planning and information technology related work. Each mentee submitted a job attachment report to an adjudicating panel which comprised mentors from 11 universities. Twelve outstanding reports were shortlisted.

The top three mentees were invited to present their projects at the presentation ceremony, with Head Mentor cum Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Chan Joon-sun, Deputy Head Mentor cum Deputy Director 1 of the Hong Kong Police College Lee Chung-wah and Chief Superintendent of the Human Resources Branch Chiu Wing-lan selecting the winners of the gold, silver and bronze awards.

During this summer, mentees benefited from a range of activities including a leadership workshop and visits to the Airport Security Unit, Marine Police Training School, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau, Police Driving and Traffic Training Centre and Detective Training Centre.
