Regional Commander of New Territories North (RC NTN) Kwok Yam-yung kicked off "Project DriveHome" in NTN Region with a sharing session on April 27. He shared his experience in traffic policing with the participants, including Divisional Commanders, Assistant Divisional Commanders (Operations), District Operations Officers, Officers-in-charge of District Traffic Teams and frontline officers from Traffic NTN.

Noting that more people were killed on the roads than were murdered, Mr Kwok said that all police officers must work together to combat traffic violations. NTN would take a two-pronged approach under "Project DriveHome" to tackle traffic issues. On one hand, action would be taken to deter bad driving behaviour, thereby reducing traffic accidents and making the roads safer. On the other hand, efforts would be made to relieve road congestion in the Region. Mr Kwok pointed out that traffic enforcement is not limited to Regional Traffic Headquarters and District Traffic Teams alone, highlighting that it is the responsibility of every police officer to perform traffic policing duties.

Mr Kwok urged all officers to place traffic enforcement higher on their priority list, collaborate across units and be innovative in coming up with solutions.
