Mong Kok District (MKDIST) launched Project Torch in the first quarter of this year with the objectives of enhancing youths' understanding of police work, passing on the Force's positive values to the new generation as well as encouraging interested youngsters to join the Force.

The project targets Junior Police Call members and secondary school students. SKH All Saints' Middle School has been invited to take part in the first phase of the project, which is expected to be expanded to other secondary schools in the district.

The Project Torch Launching Ceremony was held at All Saints' Middle School on May 6, with MKDIST Commander Kerry Carew, supervisor of the school Mr Chow Wai-man and other officiating guests lighting torches at the cauldron. A series of vibrant activities and challenging training will be held to nurture the participants.

On the other hand, MKDIST staged Project RING in an attempt to promote the integration of the Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) and local residents. The Project RING Family Night was held at Mongkok Kai Fong Association Chan Hing Social Services Centre in Tai Kok Tsui on April 29, during which officers introduced to over 120 Pakistani, Indian and Nepalese participants the services provided by the Force and gave a brief explanation of Hong Kong Laws, common drugs in Hong Kong as well as the basic welfare benefits offered for NEC residents in the territory.
