The Appointment Ceremony of Animal Watchers Programme (AWP) Student Ambassadors cum AWP Colours in 25A Award Presentation was held at the Police Headquarters on October 29. Commissioner Siu Chak-Yee presented awards for the first event of AWP x 25A Trilogy - AWP Colours in 25A Colouring and Drawing Contest. Witness by members of AWP Central Advisory Board, he also appointed around 200 students from 18 schools including kindergartens, primary and secondary schools which had set up Animal Care Corners on campus to become AWP Student Ambassadors who are encouraged to share with others the loving experiences from caring for animals and join hands with the Police to promote the message of “protecting animals and respecting lives”. The ceremony symbolises the formal launch of Animal Care Corners, which will be further extended to more schools in the future to continuously cultivate and consolidate the positive values of caring for animals and loving lives.
AWP Student Ambassadors from Buddhist Fat Ho Memorial College and Chiu Chow Association Secondary School interacted with the Commissioner and shared the skills of canine care-taking and obedience training with all participants. The Police Band also performed the AWP theme song “Love Me as I Do” with students from Fung Kai Innovative School and Ta Ku Ling Ling Ying Public School. The event is in line with the life-wide learning concept promoted by Education Bureau; hence the Chief Curriculum Support Officer (Life-wide Learning) of Education Bureau Dr Hui Shing-yan also attended the ceremony to show his support.
