At the Hong Kong (HK) Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics held earlier at Sha Tin Sports Ground, the Force raised over $840,000 out of a total donation of $2.2 million. This showed Force members' commitment in fulfilling social responsibility by donating to a charitable cause.

The donation will be given to supporting local mentally handicapped athletes to participate in the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games, which will take place from March 14 to 25 in Austria.

A flag presentation ceremony was held on February 23 at the Hong Kong Sports Institute, at which Secretary for Home Affairs Mr Lau Kong-wah presented the flag to the Hong Kong delegation of the Special Olympics. Chairman of the Police Sports Council Mr Lui Hon-kwok was one of the honourable guests at the ceremony to show the Force's support to the delegation.
