The Force participated in the Education and Careers Expo at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from February 23 to 26 to showcase its multi-faceted and professional work under the theme of "Serve and Protect our Hong Kong". A record number of 1 343 on-site applications for police posts were received.


Director of Personnel and Training Chiu Wai-yin and Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Siu Chak-yee visited the police booth to show their support for the Force's participation in the Expo.


Officers from 15 Force units, namely the Counter Terrorism Response Unit, Airport Security Unit, Emergency Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau, Narcotics Bureau, Identification Bureau, Police Dog Unit, Police College, Marine Police, Traffic Branch, Force Search Unit, Force Rope Access Cadre, Police Negotiation Cadre, Commercial Crime Bureau and Quick Reaction Force, with the last two joining the event for the first time, introduced their duties, uniforms and equipment to visitors at the booth at different sessions.


The latest recruitment information was also available at the booth. The Recruitment Division delivered a talk on the selection processes of probationary inspectors and recruit police constables, drawing more than 200 visitors. Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) and local police officers were also around to share with visitors about the career path of a police officer including the entry requirement, selection process as well as remuneration and benefits. Visitors who were interested in joining the Force made on-site application and received initial screening.
