To tie in with the new theme of mental health on "Love N Care" in 2017, the Psychological Services Group (PSG) invited film director cum actor Mr Kok Tak-chiu to share with Force members on January 16 the challenges in the film industry as well as his journey through emotional illness. The event attracted the participation of Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Siu Chak-yee, Regional Commander of New Territories South Lui Hon-kwok and about 270 police officers and civilian staff.

Mr Kok recalled that a few years ago, he did not realise the piling up of his work stress until his bodily discomfort exacerbated. Through the help of a doctor and the support of his family, he learned to better manage his stress and accept his vulnerabilities and limitations, and his life is filled with joy again.

Mr Kok encouraged the audience to set their own priorities of life and care for themselves. He described his family as a mobile phone charger, and that everyone needed to be recharged when arriving home after a long day of work. He also advocated the importance of slowing down the pace of life, using the metaphor of adding punctuation marks in one's daily lives. He believed that through pausing and taking breaks, everyone could sort out their life priorities and pay more attention to the mental health of themselves and others.
