In connection with the discovery of a 500-pound Second World War airborne bomb at a construction site in Pok Fu Lam on January 23, officers of Western District (WDIST) and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau (EOD) took swift actions to handle the incident professionally.

Upon receipt of the case, Western Division (WDIV) cordoned off the nearby area and evacuated nearly 100 construction workers and residents. On the other hand, the Police Community Relations Office of WDIST promptly informed the Home Affairs Department of the evacuation arrangements, and arranged police vehicles to take residents in need to a temporary settlement centre. Throughout the incident, officers of WDIV maintained close liaison with the Southern District Council, the media and the local community, and delivered up-to-date information to them.

Meanwhile, EOD officers dismantled the bomb after 16 hours, without causing any casualty or damage to property. The cordon was lifted and the affected residents then returned home.
