Secretary for Security (S for S) Mr Lai Tung-kwok, accompanied by Deputy Secretary for Security Ms Wong Siu-chu, visited Lok Ma Chau Control Point on the afternoon of December 22 to better understand the joint efforts of the disciplined services in curbing illegal immigrants (IIs).


Mr Lai was briefed by Assistant Divisional Commander (Operations) of Lok Ma Chau Division Kee Keah-yeong on the application of technology to boost their capabilities of intercepting IIs. Other police officers demonstrated the operation of the Enhanced Under-Vehicle Surveillance System.


In addition, Immigration and Customs & Excise officers illustrated their anti-II measures through the inspection of luggage compartments of inbound coaches. Mr Lai was also updated on the enhancement works at the Lok Ma Chau Control Point by the Building Management Committee. Then Mr Lai discussed with officers the measures to stop the inflow of IIs into Hong Kong via land boundary.
